Mission San José: Known as the "Queen of the Missions". This site also houses the main National Park Service Visitor Center.
Mission San Juan: An intimate, white-walled agricultural hub. It features an active, living demonstration farm operated in partnership with the San Antonio Food Bank to highlight colonial farming techniques.
Mission Espada: The southernmost outpost. It features a rustic, asymmetric chapel door and boasts the best-preserved segment of the original Spanish irrigation system.
The Mission Reach Trail:
A fully paved, 15-mile linear park network that follows the restored riparian ecosystem of the San Antonio River Walk. Visitors can seamlessly hike or use the San Antonio Bike Share program to pedal between all four compounds.
Espada Aqueduct: Located near Mission Espada, this New Deal-protected site features a historic stone aqueduct built between 1740 and 1745. It is the only functioning Spanish colonial aqueduct in North America, still channelling river water over Piedras Creek today.
Active Parishes: All four mission chapels remain active Catholic churches hosting regular parish masses. Be mindful of ongoing services, weddings, or funerals, during which indoor sightseeing may be limited.
Planning Your Time: It takes roughly 3 to 4 hours to thoroughly explore all four sites by car, or a full day if you choose to bicycle along the river trails.

Natural Bridge Caverns
Natural Bridge Caverns is a spectacular National Natural Landmark and the largest commercial cavern system in the state of Texas. Discovered in 1960 by four local college students, it takes its name from the incredible 60-foot natural limestone slab bridge spanning the amphitheater setting of its entrance. Located roughly 30 miles northeast of downtown San Antonio in the Texas Hill Country, the park blends massive underground rooms with thrilling above-ground ropes courses and family adventures.
The caverns maintain a constant 70°F (21°C) temperature year-round with a heavy 99% humidity rate, making the air feel warm and damp.
Try the Lantern tour! A highly rated, specialized route where the modern electric trail systems are completely shut off, allowing guests to explore the darkness using only hand-held lanterns.
